1/11/07: Piñata Island Empire

The Viva Piñata franchise is currently undergoing something of a growth spurt, with Viva Piñata: Party Animals out now on Xbox 360 and the original Viva Piñata coming to a PC near you very soon.

Developed by Krome Studios, Party Animals launched on October 30th in the US. It comes packed with 50+ minigames and appearances by dozens of familiar faces from the TV series, and we'll eat our own trousers if it doesn't do well. Sound good? You can find shots, info and video at the Krome website, and if that's not enough there's all sorts of gubbins on xbox.com and Microsoft's (revamped) official VP site.

Meanwhile, it's been announced that the optimised PC port of the original Viva Piñata - handled by Climax and heralding the first official PC appearance of a Rare franchise - will be out on November 6th. More info at gamesforwindows.com, even if it does use text written to describe the TV series and claim it was developed by Midway. What can you do? The game will make its way over to Europe by November 16th, which is when Party Animals is also set to arrive. Get in.
31/10/07: Lounge Lizards

Following on from the previous story, Rare's late October appearances in talks, panels and consultations throughout Nottingham GameCity and the London Game Career Fair are now over and went down very well, thanks for asking.

The Rare-organised Freeplay Lounge event in Nottingham was also jam-packed, as you can see in this video evidence recorded for posterity and possible criminal prosecution by MS Evangelist Paul Foster during the evening.

General opinion from the event seems to be that this kind of thing is very welcome - and that going back to standard TV resolution isn't easy after deathmatching on an elephant-sized HD projection screen. More in future, if all goes well....
